You don’t have to carry this all on your own.

About Sarah Slagter, LMFT:

Seeking Support is a sign of Strength.

I know what it's like to lose the version of your life you thought you were building. I have lived experience healing from a toxic relationship, rebuilding after divorce, navigating single motherhood — not from a distance, but from the inside, in the small daily moments when you are learning to find your strength and believe in yourself again. Those experiences shape how I sit with clients: I'm not just offering technique, I'm offering someone who's walked that road herself — rebuilding a life and a sense of self — and knows what it takes.

Professionally, my path prepared me for this work long before I opened my own practice. I spent several years as a bereavement counselor, sitting with people in the rawest parts of grief — helping them find footing when the ground had disappeared. I also spent several years working in an inpatient trauma treatment center, where I learned how deeply the body holds what the mind can't always put into words, and how real healing benefits from including both.

Today, I bring all of that — my clinical training and my own lived experience — into my private practice. This provides me the opportunity to assist individuals who are navigating trauma, anxiety, grieving, divorcing, burned out, or rebuilding themselves after relationships that made them doubt who they are. In addition to talk therapy, I use Somatic therapy, EMDR, and Attachment-based approaches because I've seen, both personally and professionally, that lasting change happens in the body and the nervous system, not just in insight.

If you're in the middle of rebuilding — I'd be honored to help you find your way back to yourself.
