Go beyond traditional talk therapy.
Integrative Therapy in Carlsbad, CA
EMDR and Somatic Therapy are powerful tools for healing trauma at its root — not just managing symptoms, but resolving what's underneath them.
EMDR therapy can help you move forward
EMDR is an evidence-based method shown to help people process trauma, grief, and painful memories — reducing their emotional intensity so you can move forward with real, lasting relief.
-
When something distressing happens, it can get "stuck" in the brain the way it was first experienced — unprocessed, and easily triggered. EMDR uses guided bilateral stimulation (like side-to-side eye movements) while you recall the memory, helping your brain finally process and file it away the way it would a normal memory. Over time, the memory loses its emotional charge — you can still remember what happened, but it no longer feels like it's happening to you all over again.
-
We'll start by identifying the memories or experiences that still feel distressing, and building the coping tools you'll need before we begin reprocessing. During sessions, you'll recall the memory in brief segments while engaging in guided bilateral stimulation. You don't need to describe every detail out loud — the process works even when the memory is hard to put into words. Many clients notice the memory starts to feel more distant or less charged, often within just a few sessions.

EMDR is a good fit for you if you…

You've tried talk therapy but still feel disconnected from real relief
Past experiences — trauma, loss, or a difficult relationship — still affect how you feel or react today
You want lasting change, not just new ways to cope
Somatic Therapy
How Somatic Therapy Works
Your body holds onto stress, trauma, and emotional experiences long after the mind has moved past them — often showing up as tension, fatigue, or a persistent sense of unease. Somatic therapy works by helping you tune into these physical sensations, using body awareness and gentle regulation techniques to release what's been held and restore a sense of safety. Rather than just talking about what happened, you learn to notice and work with what your body is still carrying.
